Since the 1960s a number of editions of Stream Gauging Information, Australia, a catalogue of surface water monitoring stations have been published by the former Australian Water Resources Council. The last hard copy edition was prepared by the Bureau of Meteorology in 1990. Daily river height information for a range of Australian Rivers can be obtained by querying the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania. For Western Australia this information is provided by the Water & Rivers Commission (WRC).
